The Carbondale Community Farmers Market is taking a Spring Break in April. There will be no market on Saturday April 11th and April 18th. We are hosting an Earth Day Plant Sale on April 25th, outside in the Giant City parking lot of the Carbondale Community High School. We will return in May will a full outdoor market complete with spring treats like strawberries, asparagus and greens galore! As always we will have live music, kids activities and a large number of sustainable and organic producers.
There are lots of new initiatives on the horizon this year at the market. We will be hosting a Nutrition Education Station each week with recipes and information about seasonal produce and a nutritionist available for Q and A. We are also working to provide prepared food options so you can grab a sandwich or a cupcake and enjoy the tunes. As a community farmers market we also provide space for community groups to do community outreach, and coordinate events such as blood drives, pet adoption days, and more. Stay tuned for a market events calendar will be rolling out in May!
We apologize for any confusion about market cancellations. We strive to provide fresh, quality produce all year round, but sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. A cold, late winter and wet spring have slowed the growing season this year. Soon enough we will have full stands of your favorite spring fruits, vegetables, flowers and prepared foods. Can’t wait to share the bounty with you all!
